Event & Race Day Information

The Second Annual Freedom 5K will take place on November 15th,  2014 and consists of a 1 milk walk, a 5K walk/run, and a 10K run on the beautiful beach of Clearwater, Florida. The race has been USATF certified and begins at Pier 60 running North on the beach and returning back to Pier 60 after turning around at the indicated marker. The post race includes prizes for top finishers as well as music and refreshments/food for the runners. T-shirts are included if you register before October 15th - anytime after that it will depend upon availability. 

NOTE: Children under the age of 10 MUST be accompanied by an adult to participate in the events!

 

 

Event Schedule and Times:

* Race day registration and race day packet pickup begins at 6:30am until 7:45am.

* The 1 mile walk behins at 8am.

* The 10K begins shortly after at 8:30am followed by the 5K walk/run at 8:35am. 

 

Parking: will be available in the lot adjacent to Pier 60 as well as across the street -- parking in those areas requires a payment at the meter.

 

Packet Pickup: Please bring your ID with you in order to pick up your race packet. Someone else may pick up the packet for you but they must have a valid ID and permission note. Days, times, and locations of the pick-up will be emailed to you later in time.

 

We will not be able to hold any of your belongings so please leave them in your car or with a trusted friend. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. 

 

Weather in November is unpredictable so please dress accordingly. Being on the beach it may become a bit windy which could cause the temperature to drop slightly and create a cool chill.

 

By registering to the event you acknowledge that it is a non-refundable transaction. Any cancellation on behalf of World Relief Tampa due to weather or any other reason will not result in a refund.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can someone pick-up my race packet for me?

A: Yes, just make sure they have an ID and signed permission slip (simple paper saying it's okay with your signature and their name)

 

Q: Are strollers, dogs, bicycles, in line skates, roller blades or skateboards, etc. allowed on the course?

A: For the safety of all participants we do not allow those items on the course.

 

Q: Do I have to wear my bib number?

A: Yes, as a participant in the event you must wear your bib number on the course at all times until instructed to take it off.

 

Q: Where does my race bib go?

A: Please affix your race bib to the FRONT of you shirt or with a race belt. We need to see the race bib at all times.

 

Q: Are my friends and family allowed to be along the beach and cheer me on?

A: Yes you family will be allowed to cheer you one - we simply just ask that they stay far enough away from the runners that they do not interfere with the race.

 

Q: Where can I find results after the race?

A: Results will be posted on this event page under Results and Photographs. Your personal finishing time will be emailed to you following the race.

 

Q: What if the weather is bad on race day?

A: There are no rain dates if the event is cancelled and there are no refunds if the event is cancelled.

 

Q: During the race, if I decide that I can't complete the 10K and I finish in the 5K what do I do?

A: Please make sure that once you come across the finish line, let the volunteers know that you didn't do the 10K and came in with the 5K instead. This way they can switch you and your time will be not registered under the 10K results.

 

Q: Why do I need to put my email?

A: Important information concerning the race will be sent to you through the email address that you provide. So please make sure you put down an email addresses and check it regularly.
